I commend the law enforcement authorities supported by AFP elements for resolving the Makati standoff with efficiency and dispatch. I direct that all residual threats, if any, be mopped up to fully restore law and order.
There should be no doubt about the rule of law in this country, and the capability of Government to enforce right over wrong.
The isolated, wrongful acts of a few speak neither of the people’s sentiments nor those in the uniformed services. They shall be dealt with firmly and uncompromisingly as in the past.
The trial of all mutinous soldiers shall be pursued to their logical end. Additional charges, as appropriate, shall be prepared to let those responsible account for their criminal act. The AFP chain of command is undiminished; and our soldiers and police continue their heroic and compassionate throughout the country. I bear faith in the uniform to uphold legitimate governance and the flag.
To one and all, let us leave this short charade behind and get on with the business of the people. Our fight against poverty and justice must be uninterrupted. Time and again, we have shown the world the stability of our democratic institutions and the strength of this government. Our strong republic is underlaine by a strong economy that has the full support of the Filipino people. – END -

It's all entertainment by ignorant celebrities. These celebrities don't know a thing about real culture and people, screw them all really. lets CELEBRATE real heroes and real people!

oh please, that is NOT a racial slur. It was an ignorant comment by a meathead talk show host, but NOT a racial slur. WE know that English is spoken in the Philippines, but ignorant people do not. Jimmy Kimmel is just ignorant. And Josh Harnett's comments were innocuous.

This is why I never became a lawyer, although all the people close to me are...And while a lawyer would never question his choice(s), I would be racked by doubt and probably even guilt.

Apologies will not correct the error as it will only be mostly Filipinos who will hear about it - not the reported 19M people who watched that episode.
The correction must be made where the slur was communicated - to the 19M minds that ABC has done disservice to.

I think we should draw a line somewhere. Which is offensive and which is satire? Do digs on personalities fair game or also offensive? Clearly, the Housewives line was not in good taste--and people have every right to protest it, but are personality attacks also offensive?

The mediocrity of the researchers, writers, producers and actors of the show reveal not only ignorance or carelessness but their uncaring attitude as well. Even if we want to get back at them, they have the larger audience. We have "no contest".
Hollywood and the like are so protective of their money and rights , e.g., copyrights, etc - and, prone to prosecute. Why let them go easy with apologies.
Best way is maybe a class suit by Filipino nurses' association, doctors' association, etc. - proceeds to be donated to charities in the Philippines.

I know our schools produce really good doctors because not only do they get a good education but they get a certain degree of experience that makes them stand out among other doctors in the world. If the line on the TV show was an attempt to be funny, it was not only not funny but offensive to many Filipino doctors.

As an American med school graduate, I have dealt with a fair share of foreign medical grads on some rotations through different hospitals. Amongst the FMGs, I'd say that the Filipinos were one of the brighter groups. Schooling in the Philippines, especially at the top programs, is rigorous, and many good doctors are produced.
No, the comment was not offensive to me - because I am good at what I do, and the patients and other doctors know this too. The comment just may lead the public to think that all doctors who graduated from there are bad docs. Completely untrue!

It is absolute ignorance and unacceptable. This just prove that the writers and the actresses are dead from the neck up. Trash!

I think it's kind of ironic that this event has transpired after Vanessa said in an interview how she considers herself a role model for young girls by being "good", and comparing her wholesome self against other female celebs such as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.
